Elmo will be here!

Elmo's coming to KL!
To Bukit Jalil stadium to be exact.

Growing up with Elmo, Cookie Moster, Bert and Ernie, Oscar the grouch, The Count, I admit I am still a kid at heart and still love the Sesame Street gang, especially Elmo.

Who can not love that red, adorable, sunshine of a puppet.
Sesame Street would be here in September to perform 'Sesame Street Live: When Elmo Grows Up'.
Audience would possibly be 89% kids, and boy am I tempted to go.

Next/ last week(s)

Here's the preview of the next/past few week(s);

1. two more weeks till exams. I have one paper to resit and my notes, books etc are no where to be seen. crap. Those resiting, good luck.

2. I have to write an article on "Tamil New Year" and I am clueless on the celebration. crap.
For those with ideas on the topic, please, enlighten me.

3. Since back from my trip home, things have been smoother.

4. I finally got to see sweet darling baby Tyler.

I am one proud aunt.

5. Despite the hurtful things I heard a few days back, it took the words of two amazing people all the way in Aussie to make me smile and feel soooo much better. =]

6. I have 4 and a half more weeks till internship ends and holidays begin. Can't wait!!

Despite exams and the article dilemma, I'm feeling warm, fuzzy and happy.
Thanks who were concerned. *sayangs!*

I Want Fat

So i was looking a picture of me taken recently and it scared me cuz I look skin and bones.
Alex keeps calling me kepeng and small and is always telling to take food with lots of protien but it doesnt seem to be working.
So I googled "How to gain weight fast" and wiki provided me with answers.

Here is what man's amazing creation of Wiki gave me;

Change your eating habits. Aim for three large meals and 2-3 hefty snacks per day. Drink shakes, milk, or juice instead of water, coffee, tea, or diet soda. Focus on the following foods:

  • Breads - hearty and dense (whole wheat, oat bran, pumpernickel, rye) are more nutritious than white bread; cut thick slices and spread generously with peanut butter, jam, honey, hummus, or cream cheese.
  • Vegetables - look for starchy vegetables (potatoes, peas, corns, carrots, winter squash, beets) versus watery vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, green beans, cucumbers).
  • Fruit - choose dense fruit (bananas, pears, apples, pineapple, dried fruit) over watery fruit (oranges, peaches, plums, berries, watermelon).
  • Soups - Go for hearty cream soups instead of broth-based soups. If you have trouble with edema or high blood pressure you may want to avoid all store-bought soup.
  • Added oils - in cooking, add a generous amount of oil. The healthiest oils are unrefined (extra virgin) oils such as olive, coconut, canola, palm, and of course butter. The less healthy but still acceptable sources of oil are those high in omega-6 fatty acids (pro-inflammatory) such as safflower, sunflower, and peanut oils. The unhealthy oils are those containing trans fat such as shortening, and the antinutrient-rich soybean oil (aka vegetable oil).
  • Spreads! - Spreading delicious calorie-rich toppings on toast, crackers, pita, and any other carbohydrate source is an excellent way to increase caloric intake. Some good high-calorie spreads are guacamole, olive oil, cream cheese, hummus, butter, nut butters, sour cream, cheese slices, mayonnaise. Even better is to mix these with shredded meats like chicken or fish.

Time to hit the grocery stores cuz I'm packing up on bread and cheese till I end up like this....

Miss Universe moment

Miss Congeniality, a movie on the Miss United States beauty pageant.

Like Sandra in the movie, it seems normal to have a mind set that beauty pageants are for judges to judge the hottest/most beautiful/"i want world peace" girl bla bla....

The Star sent me to cover the casting/ auditions for Miss Universe Malaysia 2010.

Being there, I witness how different generations of women would prepare themselves for a casting like this.
From contestants to mothers of contestants, it amazed me how 'kiasu' they were to be short-listed for the sem-finals.

Prepared to interview and leave, the organizers randomly suggested that I took part just to get an insider 'feel' of being a participant so I could write my story better.

Totally not dressed right as a contestant with flats on, I thought ; hey why not... this could be an opportunity for me to finally try out for a reality competition with judges commenting about me. Rasa American Idol a bit.

So there I was, from reporter to contestant number 103 aka #3.
Filled in the necessary forms, got myself interviewed and waited to be judged by the judges.

Judges were, Phat Fabes from fly.fm, Hans Issac, Julia (Russian beauty who is a trained expert in picking talents) and of course Miss Universe Malaysia 2004 Andrea Fonseka, all that I interview before-hand were rather surprised to see me walking into the audition room.

As I was judged i realized, man this is not easy.
Who ever entering a beauty pageant is easy, I assure you, IT SO ISN'T.

It's not just about doing a fabulous cat-walk and looking pretty.
It's about confidence (you don't have it, you're screwed), it's about being tak malu from time to time, it's about showing what you got, it's about elegance and carrying yourself as a woman.

No wonder why some people are 'kiasu', they want to show they have what it takes to carry all the qualities of a Miss Universe Malaysia.

Being interviewed by the judges, omg i was actually nervous.
Above all, they made me sing...."Happy Birthday". lol

My singing must have been awesome cuz 3 out of 4 judges said yes to me

I got into the semi-finals. oO
Trust me, I lol-ed when I heard.

Semi-finals is on the 27 of March where 18 finalist would be selected.

As much as how this totally changed my perspective on beauty pageants, I don't want to go on with this.
